Data management instructions

The data management guidelines contain recommendations and requirements based on best practice on three sub-topics – organization of data management in the institution (data management framework), creation and management of data descriptions (data description guide) and data quality management (data quality guide). In addition to the Data Description Directive, there is a Data Description Standard that provides precise requirements for an interoperable data description.

Data management framework
The data management framework provides an overview of the institution's data management roles and activities. It is recommended to use the framework as a guide when creating an institution's data management organization, as well as regularly assessing the maturity of data management and planning the following activities to improve the organization of data management.

Data Description Guide
The data description guide explains the principles of description supporting data discovery and the content of the roles and activities involved in data description.
In addition to the Data Description Directive, there is a Data Description Standard that provides a precise list and semantics of data description elements (metadata). The data description standard is implemented in RIHAKE and RIHA applications, compliance with the standard is a prerequisite for transferring data descriptions to RIHA.

Data Quality Guide
The Data Quality Guide describes principles and criteria for data quality management and provides recommendations for setting data quality rules and measuring data quality.
